Hearts and Hues
Built from nothing, not from a theme.
The brief.
Hearts and Hues needed a site that looked like the salon rather than like a template with their photos in it. They also ran a tiered loyalty programme they couldn't get a straight answer out of — quarterly reward drops were due and nobody could say which clients sat in which tier.
A React build rather than a theme: an animated hero, an editorial image carousel on a timeline strip, a colour guide, a founder introduction, a service quiz, and a reservation button that follows you down the page. Four months of building in the open, with the FAQ, the values accordion and the points banner reworked against art direction as it went. Alongside it, the loyalty programme was audited — and the reason nobody could read the tiers turned out to be that the system stored spend in a field labelled bonus points, and deducted from that same field every time a reward was redeemed, quietly demoting the customer for using it.
Live in July. Every piece of launch feedback closed out by mid-August.
The site. heartsandhues.com.au
Built component by component rather than dropped into a theme — animated hero, curved type, page transitions, and a reservation button that follows you down the page. Recorded end to end off the live site.
The emails. 4 sends
The lifecycle sends, designed in the same hand as the site — a welcome, the no-judgement promise, a thank you, and the points drop from the loyalty programme.
