The brief.

Can We Go Live started as a social-first show on Instagram and became a proper podcast in January 2025. Season 2 was the pilot for something bigger — a late night confessional for the hair and beauty industry, where the pros, the rebels and the product pushers spill the stories they'd never post, pin, or put in an EDM.

A new studio, a new set, and eight guests carrying a combined audience of 368K — from Jewel Vincin at The Modern Day Social through to Richard Kavanagh, founder of The Hair.app, as the finale. Six segments were designed to repeat: the unfiltered twenty-minute interview, They Said It We Reddit, a lip-reading consultation game, subscriber-only BTS, a season prize pool, and an Ad Break built to be dynamically populated so a sponsor can be swapped in long after the cameras stop.

150K organic impressions in eight weeks on zero paid budget. 100K Instagram reach at a 10% engagement rate, a top post at 28%, 25.6K YouTube views, and 120 CRM leads — from pure community distribution.

The episode. the finale

The season finale, in full — Richard Kavanagh on AI and the future of hairdressing, straight off the channel.

The segments. 6 segments

Six formats built to repeat. The unfiltered interview. They Said It We Reddit — Mean Tweets meets hair and beauty. Less Than Ideal Consultations, where the guest identifies a service by lip reading alone. And an Ad Break that is dynamically populated, so a sponsor can be changed after the episode is already cut.

  1. Jewel Vincin on the Season 2 set, mid-interview

    Interview

The unfiltered twenty minutes. Industry icons get real about what built their brand, what broke it, and what the industry needs to hear.

  2. A guest reading anonymous salon confessions off a phone, They Said It We Reddit lower-third on screen

    They Said It We Reddit

Mean Tweets meets hair and beauty — the wildest anonymous salon confessions and gossip, read straight off Reddit and reacted to in real time.

  3. A guest in noise-cancelling headphones guessing the service by lip reading

    Less Than Ideal Consultations

The guest guesses the service from lip reading alone. Music blasting, no context, chaos reigning. A reminder: consultations matter.

  4. The dynamically populated Ad Break — a YSS Loyalty spot held up on a phone mid-episode

    Ad Break

The designated sponsor slot — dynamically populated, so it can be changed or updated any time after recording, for any episode or season.

  5. Host and guest off-mic after an episode, hands making a heart

    BTS

Post-podcast gold. The off-camera tips, tricks and messages the guest leaves once the mic is off, delivered exclusively to subscribers.

  6. Mary Alamine opening a gold prize envelope on the Season 2 set

    Prize Pool

A season-long prize pool drawn after the finale — the audience plays along all season, and sponsors contribute to the pot.
